I absolutely LOVE the look of the silver ribbon cover. I have been contemplating creating a two-tone Super 5 and you have convinced me that Silver is the way to go. It compliments the other colors on the machine so well. Of course, this totally works against original design theory of the manufacturer who painted the drab crinkle paint colors so as not to distract the typist’s eyes. But what a great distraction on yours!
I have one of these I need to strip down too, I bet it’d look pretty cool as a Silver Surfer:

BTW: “Silver Surfer” is an early typospherian term for a machine stripped to bare metal and left that way. It was a pretty popular option for awhile..

I love it – you’ve inspired me to find a rusty, beat-up, common but high-quality typewriter to do this to.

Yes, great job, I think you’ve struck a good balance between maintaining its original character while giving it a face lift.

Thank you for the comments, all! This is a little bit distracting at first, but for me, less so than the muddy mess it had before!
