*Mackle – vb. to mend in a botchy but successful manner.Lettera 32 bag was sporting a hanging zip on one side. So I mackled it better.

The zipper was misbehaving further up the line too, with 2 old rips to the teeth. For this, I got out the Sugru.

I was probably a bit over-generous with the Sugru on that bit, but it works. The bag is now a functioning Letttera 32 carrier. Proper mackled job. Now we can gad about town.
I need to research Sugru. I will try to use “mackle” and “gad about” in conversation today.

It is such versatile stuff, you can use it for just about anything.

I’ve never tried to fix a zipper. I wish they hadn’t made typewriter cases with them — they’re just not strong enough. And I wish they had put shoulder straps on these cases!

So many times I’ve looked at a typewriter with an unrepairable zipper case and it can be a real deal breaker.
