My oldest machine is not a typewriter!

Treacle & Brahms, next to the machine they were made on. We didn't have a potted palm to hand but we like this old style portrait anyway!

Treacle is the 'spare bear', he hasn't been asigned an owner yet.
Treacle is the ‘spare bear’, he hasn’t been assigned an owner yet, and is sealed in a bag until his fate is decided upon. Poor bear! He has a traditional growler in his tummy.

Typewriters revolutionised the way we write; these machines also revolutionised lives. You could clothe a person in a day, rather than a week or two weeks, depending on the outfit. These chaps took about 3 days each to make, but only because I had to stop and do other things!

  1. Wonderful machine (instrument really). Congratulations on such a find and grand that it in use again!
Had my eye always on the old family Singer still at my parents, then they had given it to the thrift store. Can remember well how the machine felt and how it sounded to operate it. Still feel a bit of a ‘pang’ there. Ah well…🙂
    Again congrats – good find!
